This course (2 units maximum) is open to Sophomore Physics students. Students in this class
will be introduced to research in the various fields of Physics and will have the opportunity to
interact with researchers who will be invited to the class. Scientists communicate their work by
writing research papers and by means of presentations in seminars and conferences. We will
learn where Physics research papers are published, how to access these and discuss the
refereeing process. If time permits, we will read selected published papers. Students will be
required to attend selected research seminars and write a short report on what they learned.
Students may be asked to make in-class presentations as part of the assignments.
