SOPHMORE COLLOQUIUM

Course Description

"The Sophomore Seminar has two overall purposes. The more immediately practical of these purposes is to help students prepare their Portfolios for the Mid-Residency Review, which takes place during the Winter Quarter of their Sophomore Year. The Mid-Residency Review includes a review of the student’s overall work towards their degree, a review of their Writing & Literature portfolio, and a review of their Senior Portfolio Proposal, in which they pitch their vision of the work they would like to undertake for their Senior Portfolio.

The second purpose is to continue the overarching goal of all of these colloquiums, providing space for students to reflect on what it means to practice or study writing and literature. My own personal purpose for this class, especially in these times, is for Sophomore Seminar to provide a space for students to consider how they can express their identities through their writing or study of writing, where they feel safe to engage in conversations about those identities."
