Course Description

We spend about a third of our lives asleep. What goes on during that time? Why do we need it? What happens during that time? In this course, we will examine biological, psychological, and artistic perspectives on sleep. We'll discuss the latest research on the biological mechanisms of sleep and the psychological consequences of sleep deprivation. Finally, we'll explore artistic representations of sleep and dreaming. Students will learn proper sleep hygiene and explore the relationship between sleep and academic performance.
