SENIOR PORTFOLIO SEMINAR

Course Description

Writing & Literature majors graduate with an abundance of skills, knowledge, and habits of mind that are applicable to a variety of post-college settings. However, many students struggle to articulate their strengths, and understand them in relation to their own creative and professional identity and goals. Senior Portfolio Seminar will give you space to reflect on what you’ve accomplished as a Writing & Literature major, and consider how you will carry those accomplishments forward into the next phase of your life. We will think about how to communicate the complexities of who we are as writers and professionals, and why what we do matters.

You will leave this class with a complete Senior Portfolio to submit as your final graduation requirement for the major. A portfolio is, quite simply, a collection of work. Many writers keep a showcase portfolio, which is a public-facing collection. Ours, however, will be a reflective portfolio, one meant for an audience of fellow students and faculty in Writing & Literature. This is to protect your privacy as someone who is still learning, but also to provide you with a sandbox of possible entries in a showcase portfolio. Primarily, the portfolio you keep in this class will be your opportunity to communicate your achievement of the major’s learning goals.
