- a new seminar course for UCSB undergraduate Art majors in all disciplines
Have you had difficulty expressing the thoughts behind your work while speaking or writing about it? Do you want to have cogent, deep things to say about the content of your work?
Art CS 107 in spring 2018 will be based on exploring and honing texts and discussion points about your past, present and future works. We will study historical precedences, touch on theory, art movements, and subjects related to your work to discover better ways to conceptualize you art practice.
By the end of the quarter you will be able to speak about specific works in preparation for presentations and critiques, write about each work and in general, and have a better idea of where you may be going with your art practice in the future.
Requirements include reading, research, writing and in-class discussion. Specific deadlines will be given for each assignment, building to accomplished texts describing at least 10 of your works.
