Hip-hop production has evolved with the development of various DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations), anyone can produce music nowadays, but how does one structurally produce hip-hop compositions? This course focuses on producing various styles as well, utilizing the same if not similar orchestration tools executed in composing classical music. Students will learn about form, synthesizers, exploiting samples, mixing and mastering with iZotope with Logic Pro X. Students will learn about the digitalization of orchestration, musical dynamics, instrumentation, BPMs, and styles such as Party Bangers, Trap, Popular Music, Reggaeton, Boom Bap, and more. Students will be expected to participate in class discussion, and turn in various music projects weekly. Students will need access to a Mac laptop or desktop in order to run the programs for this course.
