This class will be a combination of theory and practice, and will focus on formal and historical elements of design as they relate to the many facets of being human. How does design respond to or ignore the vast diversity of human needs? How do we design for the world we live in today? How do we become the designers of the future? The class will read texts on such issues as inclusive design, social justice & design, and decolonizing design. Projects will be process-oriented, conducted in stages over the course of the quarter. Some previous experience with Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent required.
