This upper division course is 2-4 units, P/NP and open to CCS and Art majors only. In this studio and history focused course we will be exploring the genre of horror and it's power to subvert colonialism. We will focus on artists who activate themes like the ghost, haunting and monster to illuminate histories of dispossession and termination. Students will be exploring mediums like sculpture, installation, performance, and social practice. We will investigate the role of the museum and our relations to it, as well as the influence of horror in media and art.
