This course concerns itself with READING. That is, it provides an opportunity to try out your music with real musicians and conductors in a studio setting.
For the 2022 edition of Readings in New Music, we will explore a variety of means for students to hear their music. These include: workshops with performers, learning rehearsal techniques by working directly with musicians, and possibly gaining further experience from guest artists. The sessions will be recorded, but a polished recording is not the primary goal of the course. If there is sufficient interest, we may use the class as a springboard for a CCS Composers’ Concert.
More detailed information, such as possible Music Department ensemble collaborations, will be forthcoming.
CCS Music Majors are REQUIRED to enroll in the class for at least one unit, and may only be excused with the permission of both instructors.
