Course Description

An art song is a vocal music composition, usually written for one voice with piano accompaniment. It is most often a musical setting of an independent poem or text and is intended for performance in recitals or similar concerts. Students in this class will compose art songs. Emphasis will be on effective, idiomatic and creative composition for both voice and accompaniment.
