THE INTERSECTION OF ART AND DESIGN

Course Description

This course is about approaching elements, principles, and histories of graphic design from an art-making perspective. Students will read texts on design and art, and complete projects that explore personal expression through design. Students will have flexibility with how they choose to make pieces and the materials they use, and the course will include an introduction to the basics of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Students may work digitally or by hand. Students must have access to a laptop computer with the ability to run the Adobe Creative Suite. Final project includes a publication element for arts and culture newspaper The Paint Rag.
