INTRODUCTION TO HIGHER MATHEMATICS

Course Description

This class is a formal introduction to the language and culture of mathematics. Unlike previous classes you may have had, the goal of this class is not to cover any specific subject; rather, its aim is to teach its students how to rigorously think and talk about mathematics. Specific topics may include some of the following: logic and proofs; set theory and cardinality; relations, including equivalence and order relations; functions; polynomial equations.
