Congratulations Class of 2024!

We are delighted to announce that the CCS Commencement for the Class of 2024 will take place on Sunday, June 9th, 2024, at 11:00 am in Campbell Hall. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception directly outside in Campbell Plaza.

Important Details:

10:00 AM Doors open to guests, its recommended Grads arrive by this time
10:30 AM Graduates must be seated on stage (see additional Grad Instructions, below)
11:00 AM Ceremony begins

Guest Seating & Accessibility

All guest seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. There are enough seats in Campbell Hall to accommodate all guests as confirmed with the CCS Advising Office. When doors open, event staff will be available to check-in and usher invited guests to available seats. Rest assured all seats have a great view of the graduation.

In accordance with ADA regulations, seating designated as a wheelchair or accessible will be available for individuals who require those features.

For guests who wish to attend virtually, we plan to have a livestream available. In addition, a recording will be available on YouTube.

Parking and Arrival

All vehicles parked on campus must have a valid permit in order to avoid a parking citation.

Students have received a complimentary print-at home parking permit to forward to their guests. The complimentary permit must be printed in advance. No complimentary passes will be available on site. Guests who do not bring a pre-printed copy of the complimentary permit will need to purchase a visitor permit when they arrive. Permits may be purchased from a permit dispenser or as an e-permit. Parking staff can direct guests with placards to the ADA parking areas. For information on ADA Parking on campus, please visit here. ADA parking requires a permit and placard.

Upon arrival at the Campbell Hall lobby, event staff will be available to check-in and usher invited guests to available seats. Rest assured all seats have a great view of the graduation.

Recording equipment, including tripods, is not permitted inside Campbell Hall. The ceremony will be professionally recorded and photographed. All aisles must remain unobstructed.

Driving Directions

Signs directing guests to CCS Commencement will be posted on campus for guests traveling both from the West (through Isla Vista), and from the East (via Highway 217 / Ward Memorial Boulevard). Parking staff will be located at University Plaza to direct guests to the designated parking lots (Lots 14, 16, and 18). ADA parking will be available in Lot 12, the closest lot to the venue.

Faculty may park wherever faculty parking permits are valid including lots 14, 16 and 18, unless otherwise noted.

Additional Information

Attire : Graduates may wear any regalia available through the UCSB bookstore or other appropriate attire. CCS graduates will receive a braided cord to wear in honor of their graduation from our College.

The ceremony is inside while the post-ceremony reception is outside with minimal coverage, so please be sure to protect yourself from the elements. The weather in Santa Barbara in June can vary widely. Be prepared for sun, fog, or even drizzle. Please check the weather and prepare accordingly to make it a safe and comfortable event.

Program : The CCS Commencement is very personal and intimate. The ceremony is scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes. Our plans include:

Speeches by the Dean, keynote speaker and CCS Student Speaker(s)
Pieces composed by our Music Composition students will be played
Individual graduate acknowledgements
Post-ceremony reception in the plaza

Note: there will be a professional photographer present from GradImages. Information about photos available for purchase will be sent to students directly.

RSVP : graduating students received an RSVP form via email with a deadline of April 17th. If you are planning to participate and did not RSVP, please contact heidi.dinnogen@ccs.ucsb.edu immediately.

Wes Fields ‘76 (CCS Literature)

The College of Creative Studies (CCS) at UC Santa Barbara is delighted to announce its June 9, 2024 commencement speaker: Wes Fields ‘76 (CCS Literature). With a career spanning nearly four decades in emergency medicine and a lifelong passion for literature and interdisciplinary study and collaboration, Wes embodies the creative spirit of the College. Whether treating patients in the emergency room or weaving together a narrative for his newest novel, Wes has found that cultural nuance and non-verbal keys are crucial to making connections and understanding the world around him—a skill he attributes to studying under Marvin Mudrick, the founding Provost of CCS.

DECLARE CANDIDACY

CCS Students will need to declare candidacy on GOLD in order to finalize their degree. Deadlines to declare candidacy vary each quarter. Please refer to the dates posted on the Registrar's website. In addition, students should verify their name and permanent address to ensure their diplomas are delivered correctly.

Note: CCS students DO NOT need to register for the L&S Commencement Ceremonies on GOLD in order to attend the CCS Commencement Ceremony. CCS utilizes its own RSVP form which will be sent by email to graduating students.
