WRITING & LITERATURE COLLOQUIUM

Course Description

The Writing & Literature Colloquium brings faculty speakers from disciplines across campus related to writing and/or literature. The purpose of the colloquium is to help students better understand what it means to study writing and/or literature at the college level and how the various departments, research institutes, and faculty at UCSB might help them develop their own research and/or creative interests. Each week, faculty will present their research and/or creative work, what inspired that work, what methods were involved in that work, what new knowledge or ideas their work contributes, and why that work matters to the field and to the public at large. Students should expect to listen to all presentations attentively. Students will also complete a journal reflecting on the presentations in the Colloquium. The material from the colloquium will also be used in the First-Year and Sophomore Colloquium Seminar.
