Earn 2-4 units P/NP while doing good work! This Course is Cross-Listed with ART 194. This studio arts course will explore how the human body is an integral part of three dimensional installations. Taking inspiration from artists such Tania Bruguera, Stelarc, Patty Chang, and Sherman Fleming, we will explore how the artist's body and the presence of viewers mingling with the architecture of the space and objects contained within it transform the experience into real-time sculptures. If you desire the chance to be physically present with other people, share experiences, talk about tangible art, while maintaining minimal screen-time, this is the class for you. Students will use their individual interests in science, philosophy, artistic mediums, and pop culture to inform their personal projects. This course is designed to get us active and engaged in real spaces that we get to share with the physical presence of other humans, while also exploring the issues and passions that represent individual student’s core values and fascinations. Students who are not College of Creative Studies majors will need to email the instructor for an add code; write to Lucas Murgida: firstname.lastname@example.org with a brief description of your reasons/interest and you will be sent an add-code.
