The College of Creative Studies (CCS) at UC Santa Barbara was recently featured in a Forbes article highlighting how niche academic programs are differentiating themselves in an evolving higher education environment.

Among a select group of standout institutions, CCS is recognized for its distinctive undergraduate learning model, which emphasizes hands-on learning and independent exploration of specialized interests under the close mentorship of renowned faculty.

“UCSB’s College of Creative Studies attracts students seeking an unorthodox, personalized approach to education by fostering creativity and intellectual exploration,” Forbes notes, highlighting the college as an example of a higher education institution that is particularly well adapted to meet the needs of a professional landscape that demands specialized knowledge and skill sets.

Established in 1967, CCS is home to nine majors: Art, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Computing, Marine Science, Mathematics, Music Composition, Physics, and Writing & Literature. Designed for students with a deep passion for their discipline, CCS provides the freedom to explore, experiment, and innovate in a supportive, small-college community within a leading research institution.
