Three students from UC Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies (CCS) have received honorable mention in the prestigious Computing Research Association (CRA) Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Awards, a highly competitive national distinction.

CCS Computing majors Gabriel Pizarro ’27, Ziv Weissman ’26, and Eirini Schoinas ’27 join Javin Zipkin ’26 (College of Engineering Computer Science) to make up the four UC Santa Barbara students recognized in 2026.

Based on faculty nominations, the CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Awards program recognizes undergraduate students at North American colleges and universities who demonstrate exceptional potential in computing research. Nominees are evaluated primarily on research excellence, followed by academic achievement and service activities such as club leadership, teaching, or peer mentorship.
