Alumna Phoebe Brunner ’72 (CCS Art): A Radiant Solitude at Sullivan Goss
Phoebe Brunner ’72 (CCS Art) will be celebrated with an opening reception for her sixth solo exhibition at Sullivan Goss Gallery on Thursday, February 5, from 5–8 p.m. A Radiant Solitude will be on display from January 30–March 23, 2026.
Sullivan Goss shared: “In an increasingly busy world, Phoebe Brunner’s mythical landscapes and spritely botanicals offer a grand day of outdoor adventure. Looking at her newest body of paintings, you can escape along an untraveled road, skim across mountain peaks alive with alpenglow, breathe easy in the violet mists, or lose yourself in a walk along an undulating shoreline.”
The gallery notes that while Brunner’s landscapes are unpeopled, they are never lonely or still. Her work is defined by daring brushstrokes and luminous color coming together to form flora and light on the horizon.
"All of these qualities are hallmarks of Phoebe’s distinctive way of showcasing her reimagined landscapes: a bit of magic, a dash of remembered California places, and a whole lot of radiant solitude."
