Guest Artist Masterclass: Brian O'Donnell, 2nd LT, United States Air Force Academy Band Flight Commander and Associate Conductor
Brian O'Donnell, 2nd LT, United States Air Force Academy Band Flight Commander and Associate Conductor, will present a masterclass and clinic on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 from 12-1:20 pm in Music Room 1145. Mr. O'Donnell received a Bachelor of Music degree in Horn Performance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Composition from UC Santa Barbara in 2014, where he studied horn with Dr. Steven Gross, and music composition with Dr. Leslie Hogan and Dr. Jeremy Haladyna.
2nd Lt Brian M. O’Donnell is the Flight Commander and Associate Conductor of the United States Air Force Academy Band, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado. Lieutenant O’Donnell assists in the organization and deployment of 56 Airmen Musicians who use music to honor those who have served in uniform, inspire patriotism and military service in fellow citizens, encourage troop morale, positively impact the global community, and recruit our nation’s best on behalf of the U.S. Air Force and its Academy. Prior to joining the Air Force, Lieutenant O’Donnell earned his MM in Orchestral Conducting from the California State University Sacramento with Leo Eylar and his BM in French Horn Performance and BA in Music Composition from the University of California Santa Barbara, where he studied horn with Dr. Steven Gross, and music composition with Dr. Leslie Hogan and Dr. Jeremy Haladyna. Concurrent with his studies in Sacramento, he worked as a freelance conductor and French horn player throughout Northern California conducting and performing with ensembles of the professional, university, and community levels. Lt O’Donnell received his commission in March of 2018 from Officer Training School at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
