Meet Richert Wang (CCS Computing Faculty)
Editor's note: We will be featuring "CCS stories" throughout the College's 50th Anniversary. Some stories will be personal stories and others will be written in the third person. Check the Anniversary page regularly to make sure you don't miss out and make sure to submit your story. This story was written and submitted by CCS Computing faculty member Richert Wang.
I recently joined the CCS Computing faculty in Fall 2017. After working in the software industry for several years after receiving my Ph.D., I decided to dedicate my career to computing education since my true passion is teaching computer science. Throughout my experience, I learned the importance of actively developing projects in order to gain context and progress in my professional career. The opportunity to teach and advise talented and self-motivated students in an intimate personalized environment is something that attracted me to this college. CCS fosters students' ideas into applications that highlight their passions, and provides them with academic freedom to explore various subjects that can be applied to their work. The constructive and tangible skills acquired through CCS enable students to be leaders in their respective fields. I am extremely proud and fortunate to be a part of this truly unique program.
