Tuesday Poets at the Library featuring Teddy Macker

CCS Writing and Literature faculty member Teddy Macker will be reading his poetry at the Santa Barbara Public Library. The event will also feature readings from Peg Quinn and Alison Bailey.

Peg Quinn’s poems appear in numerous journals and anthologies and have been nominated three
times for a Pushcart Prize. She is a former art teacher, award-winning quilter, Artistic Director for
Stage Left Productions, and paints interior/exterior murals on commission. Though she has lived most
of her adult life in Santa Barbara, she grew up in rural Nebraska and is recognized as a Nebraska Author
in the Heritage Room of the Lincoln Public Library. www.santabarbaramurals.com


Teddy Macker’s collection of poetry, This World, was published in 2015 (White Cloud Press) with a
foreword by Brother David Steindl-Rast. His short stories and poems appear in the Antioch Review,
Columbia, New Letters, Orion, Resurgence & Ecologist, The Massachusetts Review, The Sun, Tin House,
and various anthologies. He teaches in the College of Creative Studies at UCSB and lives with his wife
and two daughters on a small farm in Carpinteria.


Alison M. Bailey studied poetry with James McMichael at UC Irvine and Suzanne Lummis at UCLA.
She won the Glenna Luschei Poetry Contest in 2016. Her poems appear in Sage Trail and To Give Life
a Shape, and were featured in the exhibit “From Verse to Visual.” Her novel XP, about the Pony
Express, was published in 2012. Her newly-launched virtual reality app, VR Guest, is the “experience”
of a dinner conversation with Einstein, Kleopatra and Mozart.
