Center for Feminist Futures Open House and International Women’s Day Celebration
“We are the good news that we have been looking for,
Demonstrating that every dusk holds a dawn disguised within it.
Today we don’t burst into a new world.
We begin it.”
— Amanda Gorman
Happy International Women’s Day! We welcome all feminist and queer studies scholars, staff, and students to the opening of the Center for Feminist Futures!
We invite you to celebrate the dreams and dedication of dozens of colleagues who have brought the Center for Feminist Futures into being. We honor them and the countless global initiatives that seek transformation to improve the lives of women, femmes, girls, and all people. We have an exciting agenda: Dean Charlie Hale and Interim Graduate Dean Leila Rupp will share the history of the initiative and its significance to UCSB. New director Prof. Jigna Desai will share highlights of the mission, vision, and new initiatives for the Center. Learn about opportunities for input and involvement. We will also offer a tour of the new Center space! Come have wine and cheese, meet new staff, and share your own wishes and desires for the Center and our shared feminist futures.
