TRAVELING UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH FUND (TURF) CCS STUDENT TRAVEL GRANTS

The College of Creative Studies (CCS) accepts applications at least 1 month in advance of the planned travel.

I. GENERAL INFORMATION

The TURF Grant awards travel funds to CCS students who have (1) been invited or selected to present a paper, present research, perform, or exhibit work at a professional conference or meeting; or (2) wish to attend a workshop, residency, conference, museum, performance or other event related to their studies in CCS. Applicants must be CCS students with a 3.0 GPA or better. Students are eligible to receive one TURF grant during their undergraduate career at UCSB. The amount of the grant is dependent on available funds and may not cover the entire costs of travel.

WHEN. Grants are awarded to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis, as funding allows. Applications must be submitted 1 month in advance of the planned travel.

II.    TERMS OF THE AWARD

Typically, applicants will be informed of award decisions within two weeks of submission of a completed application (see "HOW TO APPLY" below for the list of materials that comprise a completed application). Only completed applications will be considered.

Funding can be used to cover the costs of registration, entrance, or residency fees (if applicable), transportation, and housing. Keep all original receipts for reimbursement.

Any travel other than a direct route from Santa Barbara to the conference location must be approved by the College prior to departure.

Travel vouchers and original receipts for approved travel must be submitted to the College within 10 days of completion of the trip. Travel award funds will not be held in reserve for late vouchers.
