In the two decades before the Civil War, a new type of capitalism developed in the northern United States that stressed mass education, widespread innovation, and new markets for art and design. Through creative labor, Black abolitionists highlighted the evils of slavery and made a compelling case for racial equality.

In this webinar, we will also broadcast a recorded series of introductions from CCS Faculty, a brief self-introduction from our CCS Staff, and a greeting from CCS’s Community Council. We anticipate this meeting should be finished by 10:45.
