Deans, students, and staff will come and go; new CCS buildings may even come and go, but the home inside CCS will continue to morph around its central principles of creation and discovery.

CCS will celebrate the unveiling of the new logo this afternoon (Monday Dec 11) with a reception starting at 230 PM in the CCS Gallery. Designer Jon Ritt will be here for the unveiling.

Final exams scheduled for the coming week will be rescheduled for the week of January 8. 

The health and safety of our students and our community is our top priority. Following consultation with faculty, administrative colleagues, students, and staff, we are announcing the cancellation of classes for Friday, December 9.

Although UC Santa Barbara is a significant distance from the Thomas Fire and no danger is posed to our physical campus, UCSB is announcing that all remaining classes on Thursday, December 7, have been cancelled. Given the uncertainties the fire presents, this difficult decision will allow us to assess logistical issues in advance of finals week, which is scheduled to begin Saturday. 

As the Thomas Fire continues to burn in Ventura County, we are deeply concerned for all those impacted by this devastating event. 

 As I work through my third year in CCS physics, I’m incredibly grateful to the College of Creative Studies for providing me with a comprehensive education, both in the classroom and the lab.
 

Three College of Creative Studies (CCS) students attended the Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) held November 1-4, 2017 in Phoenix, AZ.

I recently joined the CCS Computing faculty in Fall 2017. After working in the software industry for several years after receiving my Ph.D., I decided to dedicate my career to computing education since my true passion is teaching computer science.

On August 17, 2017 Sergiy Vasylyev was part of the team at the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) in Santa Barbara that co-discovered a new source of light and localized it to the galaxy NGC 4993.
